I'm very grateful to Barb and Marsha for pushing forward with this new perspective on our experience. I now understand some of the stuff that's been going on with me, and quite frankly, was scaring me a bit---like why sudden movements or loud noises leave me terrified and crying, or frozen in fear. Running out of the grocery store in tears because someone dropped a jar of pickles in the aisle can be a little unnerving! But even in my new little townhouse, I find that when my young adult sons come over, I'm unable to handle their need to bounce balls on the basement floor, fidget with the cutlery, or let the kitchen cupboard doors fall shut with a bang. Although I'm an amateur musician, I can't take the stereo being on because a loud part of the music makes me jump, and I never listen to the radio now after being a CBC junkie. I guess it's really good that I'm living alone in this part of my journey. And my therapist order a copy of Barbara and Marsha's book! So, slow and steady wins the race. We will all get to the place of healing and freedom, because we have a long line of great women underneath us and all around us.
